I'm Sarah, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist who has 10+ years of experience supporting individuals during times of stagnation, change, relationship struggles, uncertainty, depression, and anxiety. I am someone who is committed to my own self-care, and am often described by clients as warm, encouraging, relatable, and authentic. I feel that it is important for clients not to see me as a blank slate, but rather as a fellow human on this journey, with expertise and skills to help. My style is open, curious, humorous, and deeply caring.
I obtained a Masters in Social Work from the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration in 2014 and started my private practice in 2017. Before starting my practice, I worked in a variety of settings as a mental health professional. My experience includes work in youth and family organizations, an elementary and high school, hospitals, Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), a substance abuse treatment program, psychiatric nursing homes, non-profit organizations, and doing street outreach, case management, and therapeutic interventions with vulnerable populations (including women who were pregnant and parenting).
I grew up in the Rocky Mountains and and spent 15 years of my adult life in Chicago. I am Midwest nice with a Wild West spirit. In the last couple of years I put down roots in the DC Metro area with my family. I love (amateur) gardening, singing, seeing live music, and escaping with reality television. I have known since I was young that I wanted to be a therapist. I feel incredibly lucky to do work that I love and believe in.
